About Bird Watching Tour
Nepal is a heaven for bird watching lovers with over 848 species (almost 8% of the world ) of birds. . Nepal, though small in its size, has all kinds of habitats for birds-wetlands, lakes, tropical and subtropical forests, coniferous and Himalayan habitats. Normally, 3-4 days to three weeks holidays required for bird watching trip in Nepal. Chitwan National Park, Koshitappu wildlife reserve& Bardiya Natinal Park is the popular spots for bird watching. It is renowned for its array of birds with over 255 species recorded. There are many species of parakeets. Other birds include Blue-Throat (thrush), Long-tailed Nightjar, Indian Peafowl, Great Barbet, red-billed blue magpie and Tickell & red breasted blue flycatcher. After Visiting Chitwan, Our trip lead towards Koshi Tappu Wildlife reserve which is also renowned for being one of the best locations for bird watchingIt is on the Sapta Koshi floodplain means that the environment of this reserve varies dramatically according to the seasons.
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu.
Greeting by our representative and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02:Sightseeing of Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square & Kathmandu Durbar Square.
Day 03: Bird Watching Tour.
After taking breakfast,we start our bird watching tour from Godavari Botanical Garden.Overnight in a Hotel
Day 04:Godavari-Phulchoki Hill-Kathmandu.
After taking breakfast, , visit Tauda Lake for Observation of water birds Birds sighted along here are the Egrets, herons, Kingfishers, Ibis bill, Wood Sandpipers and Plovers & continue to Pulchowki. Full day birding in the Phulchoki Hill, about 90 species have been recorded in this area including the endemic spring babbler, as well as the Curia, Mountain Hawk Eagle, Rufous Bellied Pied Woodpeckers and the Black-throated Parrot bill, to name a few. In the evening return back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu
Day 05:Birding in Nagarjuna Forest and Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve.
After taking breakfast, we visit the Nagarjuna Forest and Shivapuri watershed area. Some of the birds found in the area are Laughing Thrush, Crested Serpent Eagle, little Pied Fly Catchers, Rupy-throats, and Babblers. And in the Nagarjun we can found pheasants, magpies, sunbirds, and ruby throats. overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 06:Kathmandu to Chitwan .
After taking breakfast ,we drive to Chitwan National Park and check into the hotel. In the evening, we walk towards Tharu Village: ethnic group of Nepal. From there you know about the culture and others thing from this village. Overnight in Chitwan.
Day 7:Bird watching tour at Chitwan.
After taking breakfast, we spend full day bird watching in different vegetation's of the park, from wetlands to grasslands to Sal forest, here we can see more than 500 species of bird including, Blue Indian Roller, Stork-billed Kingfishers, Bengal Florican, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Bee-eaters, and Cormorants.
In Afternoon,Enjoy canoe ride along the Rapti River which provides you an excellent opportunity for Bird Watching and for seeing the 2 rare species of crocodiles; the Marsh Mugger and the fish eating Gharial. After that you will starts Jungle Walk for birdwatching trip, on the way back you can enjoy the elephant bathing.
Afternoon back to hotel and have a delicious lunch. Evening, you will enjoy Elephant Safari this is next good opportunity to see four different kinds of birds and many animals such as deer, rhinoceros, wild bore, monkey, leopard, sloth bear and the Royal Bengal Tiger (If you are lucky). You will also encounter many other smaller mammals that have made Chitwan their home.
Evening enjoy Tharu cultural dance presentation or Slides show presentation then after have a dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 08:Chitwan to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve.
After taking breakfast, we move towards Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve from Chitwan. In here we spend full day birding trip. We can see more than 450 species of different species of birds including Black Ibis, Honey Kites, Ospreys, Black Headed Orioles, Peregrine Falcon, Partridges, and Storks.
Day09:Bird watching tour in Koshi Tappu.
Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is one of the famous destinations for the bird watchers in Nepal. This reserve is situated in the eastern most Terai belt of Nepal in the flood Plain area of the Great Sapta koshi. Being in the flood plain area of the Sapta koshi this region is blessed with the diverse range of the vegetation and ecology that offers the best place for the birds to thrive. This deciduous riverside forest and scrubby grassland vegetation inhibits more than 280 species of birds including 20 different species of ducks, herons, egrets, Bengal floricans (Eupodotis Bengalensis, ibises, storks, swamp partridges (Francolinus gularis), and other exotic Waterfowls. Other famous bird watching places in Nepal.
Day 10:We drive back or take a flight back to Kathmandu.
